510 - 19 November 1991 ********************** SYSTEM MANAGER V8.0 ******************* This bulletin is to announce the beta test phase System Manager V8.0. Development of this product has been taking place since February 1991 and the major new facility is the ability to interface to C-ISAM files under Unix. Users of Global 3000 will have the option to use either C-ISAM or normal Speedbase databases. Vertical software suppliers can use System Manager V8.0 to access C-ISAM files. There are a number of enhancements to some of the System Manager command programs. For example $STATUS can now tell which user has open files. The limit of eight print control files has been removed. Full details of System Manager V8.0 are in an Advanced Product Information document (API) attached. Further copies are available from the TIS Software despatch department. It is intended that System Manager V8.0 has three releases, two beta-test and one final release. Beta test number one will be available during the week commencing 2nd December and contains all of the changes in System Manager (Unix) to allow the C-ISAM interface to be used. Beta test number two follows about a month later and contains the new and improved command programs in System manager as well as the contents of the first beta test. The final release of System Manager V8.0 depends on the success of the beta test.
